About Us

AETER was founded in 2021 by Anna Rácz and Gergely Sági, after nearly 15 years of friendship and previous collaboration. The choice of name is both coincidental and not. Coincidental, because while taking shelter from the rain in the sacristy of the then-under-renovation Votivkirche in Vienna, we surely did not stumble by chance upon Jakob B. Reider's installation of the same name. A golden veil coiling around a heavy, neo-Gothic pillar. We recognised ourselves in it. That is how we found our name.
Since then, we have found experience, impulse, knowledge, shards, stones, books, and relics in the most unexpected places: fragments of stories that we can then continue to write. From these stories, we became AETER. And although years have passed since then, and the team continuously changes, evolves and takes shape, it is these ever-accumulating stories that have defined us ever since.

ArchitectURE

Architecture. Creation. Complex and multifaceted, regardless of scale or programme. Expressive, impactful, narrative. Installations, topography, exterior and interior spaces, small and large buildings, in Hungary and abroad.

Survey

Survey. Discovery. By hand and by machine. Both are a form of touch. Drawing and model, pencil and point cloud; what the camera cannot see, the eye still can. Measuring tape, laser — or whatever happens to be at hand.

Research

Research. Understanding. Books, archives, museums. Reading — sometimes writing about it too. Seeing is not enough; one must also comprehend, and that is sometimes no easy task. One must know how to search, and indeed how to find. Then piece it together, and sometimes fill in the gaps.
